PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope for operation, excellent in torque transmission.SOLUTION: A rope 2 for operation is suitable for use as a rope for operation of medical instruments. The side wires 6 or side strands are formed into a spiral shape, of which the flatness, i.e. the aspect ratio obtained by dividing the major axis by the minor axis, is more than 1.00 and 1.10 or less.
