The assembly comprising an actuator (108, 201-208), a metering element (134, 141-148) and a powertrain (212, 221-228) is disclosed, wherein the powertrain (212, 221-228) is configured to transmit power from the actuator (108, 201 -208) to the metering element (134, 141-148) to drive the metering element (134, 141-148) in rotation about a first axis (150) to meter a commodity at a predetermined rate；the powertrain (212, 221-228) including an actuator output member (232) supported for rotation about a second axis (236)；the powertrain (212, 221-228) including a metering input member (234) that is fixed for rotation with the metering element (134, 141-148) about the first axis (150)；the actuator output member (232) engaged with the metering input member (234) for power transmission from the actuator output member (232) to the metering input member (234)； andthe first axis (150) being transverse to the second axis (236). Further, a commodity metering system (130) with multiple of such assemblies and a work vehicle (100) with such a commodity metering system (130) is disclosed.
