The present invention describes the use of a buckwheat extract for immunity enhancement, and more specifically, to a food composition for enhancing an immune function comprising a buckwheat extract as an active ingredient, and a pharmaceutical composition for immunity enhancement. The buckwheat extract according to the present invention can increase the production of nitric oxide and the production of cytokines such as TNF-a or IL-6, thereby increasing the activity of macrophages and inducing the immunity enhancement. Additionally, the buckwheat extract can increase the activity of natural killer cells, increase the weight of spleen and thymus, and increase the leukocyte count, and thereby can be utilized as a pharmaceutical composition for diseases requiring immunity enhancement. Also, the buckwheat extract of the present invention does not induce cytotoxicity and is stable in the body, and thereby can be utilized as a food composition for immunity enhancement.본 발명은 메밀 추출물의 면역증진 용도를 규명한 것으로, 보다 구체적으로, 메밀 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 면역기능 증강용 식품 조성물 및 면역증강용 약학 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 메밀 추출물은 산화질소의 생성을 증가시키고 사이토카인인 TNF-a 또는 IL-6의 생성을 증가시켜 대식세포의 활성을 증가시켜 면역증진 효과를 유도할 수 있으며, 자연살해세포 활성을 증가시키고, 비장 및 흉선의 중량을 증가시키며 백혈구수를 증진시킬 수 있는 효과가 있어 면역증진을 필요로 하는 질환의 약학적 조성물로 활용할 수 있다. 또한 본 발명의 메밀 추출물은 세포 독성을 유발시키지 않아 체내 안정하므로 면역증진을 위한 식품용 조성물로도 활용할 수 있다.
