An implantable closure device containing at least one wire with shape memory and a flexible polymer sheet, the sheet being located around the wire, the sheet including an external fringe along at least a portion of the sheet length. The device according to claim 1, in which the outer fringe contains a cut section of the sheet. The device according to claim 1, wherein at least the fringe portion is not part of the sheet. The device of claim 1, wherein the fringe extends substantially along the entire length of the wire. The device according to claim 1, wherein the sheet is attached to the wire in one or more places of the wire. The device according to claim 1, in which the sheet contains expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. The device according to claim 1, further containing a substance that promotes the growth of the endothelium, an anti-inflammatory substance or a therapeutic substance. The device according to claim 1, further comprising one or more radiopaque tags. An implantable closure device comprising at least one shape memory wire and a flexible polymer tube, the tube being located around the wire, the tube including an external fringe along at least a portion of the length of the tube. 10. The device according to claim 9, in which at least a portion of the wire is located inside the lumen of the tube. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the tube comprises a polymer strip that is wound at least around a portion of the wire. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the outer fringe comprises a cut portion of the tube. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein at least the fringe portion is not part of the tube.
