PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for sanitation having a water absorbing body consisting of a polyurethane foam which can satisfy all conditions of a high water absorbency, a low swelling property, and a low harmfulness.SOLUTION: The coating material for sanitation has the water absorbing body 21 consisting of the polyurethane foam which is obtained by making polyols and a polyisocyanate react under the presence of a catalyst, a foaming agent, a foam stabilizer and an additive. The polyols include a polyester polyol. The foam stabilizer is an anion type surfactant, of which the adding amount is 0.7 to 2.8 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the polyester polyol. As the additive, an inorganic porous body is contained.
