A sagittal saw blade wherein the teeth are arranged so that relative to the teethlocated closer to the outer sides of the blade, the inner located teeth are locatedcloser to the proximal end of the blade. The blade is further formed to have an openingbetween at least two of the teeth that extends proximally rearward. The openingincreases in width as the opening extends proximally along the length of the blade.The opening opens into a void space that functions as a chip catchment space.
