PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elongated bone fixation element along a center axis.SOLUTION: The bone fixation element includes: a head； and an axis extending in a distal direction with respect to the head and configured to be driven into a fixation site. The head defines a ridge and at least one thread that is spaced from the ridge along the distal direction. The ridge defines an outer cross-sectional dimension in a direction that intersects the center axis and is perpendicular to the center axis. The at least one thread defines a major diameter in the direction, and the major diameter of the at least one thread is less than the outer cross-sectional dimension of the ridge.
