PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of a shadow of a guide wire when executing tomography of a living body lumen such as a blood vessel using an imaging catheter.SOLUTION: A medical guide wire 10 includes a flexible core part 20, a first coil part 30 in which a first element wire is wound at the distal end part of the core part, a second coil part 40 in which a second element wire is wound at the core part 20 on a proximal side relative to the first coil part 30, and a coating layer 50 having infrared transmission properties for coating the second coil part 40. A wire diameter of the second element wire is smaller than the wire diameter of the first element wire, and a gap between the second element wires is larger than the gap between the first element wires.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2【課題】イメージングカテーテルを用いて血管等の生体管腔内の断層撮影をする際にガイドワイヤの影を生じにくくさせる。
