A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are disclosed. The mobile terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention can measure body composition using human body communication with an external device that is spaced apart from each other. The mobile terminal and the external device have two electrodes touching the body part of a user. The mobile terminal outputs a test signal through a first body part in contact with a first electrode and transmits it to the external device through the body of the user. The external device generates a feedback signal corresponding to the test signal. The mobile terminal senses a second signal which is the feedback signal passing through the human body and is transmitted through a second electrode. The mobile terminal calculates the body composition of the user using a difference between a reference signal corresponding to the test signal and the second signal.
