The present invention relates to methods for synthesizing macrolide compoundswhich are known to have antibacterialactivity, and are useful in the therapy of bacterial infections in mammals.More specifically, the invention relates to methodsfor synthesizing the macrolide antibiotic, gamithromycin utilizing a novelconfiguration of catalysts, chemical structures, and/ormethods. An embodiment of the present invention may include allowing multiplechemical reactions to proceed without the isolationof chemical intermediates. Thus, multiple reactions may occur in one reactionvessel allowing for a considerable decrease inthe cycle-time. The present invention also provides a novel method forinhibiting degradation while isolating a structure of apharmaceutical composition.
