A description is given of a tree-cutting implement, in which, via a motor, a saw blade held in a blade head housing is moved backwards and forwards via a drive connection running in a carrying tube. The saw blade is connected to a crank mechanism via a connecting rod, connecting rod and crank mechanism being covered over by a covering hood which is held on the blade head housing via a plug-in and/or locking connection and is used at the same time as support means for a spring element which acts on the connecting rod. The advantage of this design lies in the possibility of simple cleaning, this being made possible by the rapid and simple capacity for removing the covering hood.
