PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact authentication device which is highly resistant to external rays of light for freeing a user from a feeling of pressure in the case of imaging finger blood vessel patterns with the transmitting rays of light.SOLUTION: The blood vessel photographing device includes: a guide part 118 for determining a finger position a light source 114 arranged at one or both sides of the guide part for emitting transmitting rays of light which transmit the finger an imaging part 112 for imaging the transmitting rays of light and light shielding means 116 for restricting the emission area of the rays of light emitted from the light source. Further, the blood vessel photographing device includes: means for measuring the thickness of the finger and means for controlling the quantity of rays of light from the light source on the basis of the measurement results.
