present invention relates to an extended release formulation comprising darifenacin or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof and one or more release controlling hydrophobic materials optionally coated with combination of one or more release controlling hydrophobic materials and one or more release controlling hydrophilic materials wherein said formulation provides controlled release of the darifenacin over the period of 24 hours. The present invention further relates to an extended release formulation comprising darifenacin or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein darifenacin is incorporated in a matrix comprising one or more release controlling hydrophobic materials and one or more release controlling hydrophilic materials.
