In one aspect, disclosed herein is a process for producing a feedstock for an animal feed. The process comprises providing a categorised food waste collected from producers of the categorised food waste； treating the categorised food waste to destroy substantially all pathogens； grinding the categorised food waste； and forming the treated and ground food waste into the feedstock.
