It is disclosed an articulation rigidity assessment device for assessing therigidity of the articulation when a bendingmotion is imposed to a limb of said articulation around a predeterminedrotation axis of the articulation, said device comprising: aone-axis angular velocity sensor for attaching to said limb such that the axisof measurement is parallel to the axis of rotation of theimposed bending motion； a data processor configured to process the signal ofthe angular velocity sensor and to distinguish betweennon-rigid and rigid states of the articulation using the processed angularvelocity signal. The articulation may be the wristarticulation of the patient and the limb is the respective hand. The devicemay comprise a skin-contacting patch for applying to the limb ofthe patient wherein the one-axis angular velocity sensor is attached to saidskin-contacting patch. The skin-contacting patch may beapplied to the palm or back of the hand.
