The present invention pertains to a method for feeding a group of hatchling chickens (6) present on a bottom of a cage (1), the method comprising presenting feed (5) to the chickens in the cage, wherein the feed is presented at a level above the heads of the chickens, the feed being evenly distributed over a surface that corresponds to a vertical projection of the bottom (2) of the cage.
