My articulating video laparoscope is first of its kind in India designed in 8 mm, a video camera with 6 leds fitted in the tip itself making rod lenses and fiber optics outdated. Since there is no image loss the image quality is much superior to the rod lenses. It can be articulated to 180 degrees and rotated in 360 degrees making it to see in places where other scopes do not see. The cost of manufacturing was Rs 10,000. Sterilization is done by putting in Formalin chamber or ethylene oxide gas. The camera is fitted at the tip of a flexible tube with 8 mm diameter. The wires of the camera are connected to usb Hub whiich is fitted outside the holder of the scope which is made of fiber. The articulating mechanism is created by putting a 1mm string wire into a 2 mm outer spring wire. Both of them are connected to a locking system outside the holder. The lever when pushed the scope articulates and when the lever is unlocked the scope becomes straight again.
