A framework for a removable, partial or complete prosthodontic device is made by machining, using a CAD/CAM technique, a disc (2), made from polyetheretherketone, to define the framework (4). Prosthetic teeth and gums can be secured to the framework to define the prosthodontic device. The preferred polymer is an aromatic poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK). The material with optional colourants (0 10%, pink or white) and further (fibrous) fillers is extruded into a rod of a diameter of at least 75 mm and discs of are cut from this rod with a thickness of 10 to 60 mm. Preferably the device comprises at least 90 % polymeric material and less than 2 % metal. The blank is processed using at least 5-axis machining.
