PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear and two-dimensional array ultrasonic wave probe that employs a composite piezoelectric body consisting of a solid solution group piezoelectric single crystal and a resin where no defective processing is caused at cutting and to provide a manufacturing method for the ultrasonic wave probe. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic wave probe is characterized in that inserting the piezoelectric body 111 made of a solid solution group single crystal containing at least lead titanate between resin layers 113, 115 whose acoustic impedance is smaller than that of the piezoelectric body and having conductivity can prevent occurrence of defective processing at cutting and the resin layers are used for an acoustic matching layer or electrodes.
