A watering device (40) comprising a receptacle (42) and a sponge wick (44).The receptacle (42) comprises areservoir (46) and a probe (52). The probe (52) projects from the reservoir(46) and is adapted to extend into potting mix in a plantpot. The probe (52) is also adapted to hook on to the rim of the plant pot inorder to support the device (40) thereon. The wick(44) is adapted to extend from the reservoir (46) within or along the probe(52) and into the potting mix in the plant pot. The wick(44) comprises non-woven Polyvinyl Alcohol fibres which are bound by aPolyvinyl Alcohol foam resin.
