The invention provides an animal treatment block for applying a treatment to an animal against the action of biting insects, including a body including a carrier medium, a structural means, incorporated into the carrier medium and an active ingredient incorporated into the carrier medium. The body, including the carrier medium with incorporated active ingredient and structural means, may be mounted such that an animal can readily contact the body, whereby the active ingredient is applied to the animal in a controlled manner, through application of the carrier medium.
