This invention pertains to the starting of small gas powered enginessuch as those used on lawn mowers and snow blowers by way of the existing pullcord.This device was invented to make using the pull cord easier by transferringtheforce used to start such an engine from the arm and shoulder to the foot andleg.BACKGROUND: Many people experience difficulty using a pull cord to start theirlawn mower or snow blower because of the strain on the arm and/or shoulder.This invention is a mountable addition which converts the machine so the footand leg can be used to move the existing pull cord to start the engine.l researched to learn if a device already existed but it does not so l startedlookinginto a simple and cost effective solution to this problem.After some trial and error l found the ideal solution which includes a 2.6:1ratiocombination pulley, although this ratio is not limited to 2.6:1.The ratio is required because the foot and leg are limited in the height theycan beraised to move the pull cord. A 2.6:1 ratio was found to be ideal as thismeans a12" push with the foot is converted to a 31" extension of the existing pullcord,sufficient travel to start the engine.The invention consists of 5 main parts;1. A crossbar made of weatherproof material strong enough to withstand theforces of starting the engine. This crossbar is the axis upon which the pulleyismounted and also acts as the pulley bushing.2. 2 clamps to secure the crossbar onto the existing machine handlebars.3. A custom designed 2 in 1 combination pulley made of weatherproof materialstrong enough to withstand the forces of starting the engine and capable ofwithstanding temperatures of the coldest and hottest weather as well as wateringression and ultra violet radiation.4.
