PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which enables a tilt angle of a work tool with respect to a portable work machine body to be changed in any arbitrary direction.SOLUTION: In a portable work machine, a drive source 10 is provided in one end of an operation rod 95 and a work tool is provided in another end of the operation rod 95. The operation rod 95 includes a first rod part 100 where the drive source 10 is provided in one end, a second rod part 110 where the work tool is provided in one end, and a connection part 90 connecting other ends of the first rod part 100 and the second rod part 110 with each other.
