PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mist generator which generates mist from electrolysis water by using an electrolysis electrode and efficiently uses water solution stored in a water solution tank.SOLUTION: The mist generator includes a water storage tank, an atomization part, a carrying part, an electrolysis part and an electrolysis control unit controlling the electrolysis part. The mist generator further includes: a water shortage sensing part detecting voltage by coming into contact with liquid and a main control unit controlling the atomization part and the electrolysis control unit. The electrolysis control unit includes: a first operation mode of performing electrolysis operation by applying predetermined voltage to a plurality of electrodes included in the electrolysis part and a second operation mode of applying voltage to one electrode included in the electrolysis part and detecting the voltage by the other electrode via the liquid in the water storage tank. When the water shortage sensing part detects voltage, the main control unit controls the electrolysis control unit so that the electrolysis control unit is operated in the first operation mode. When the water shortage sensing part does not detect voltage, the main control unit controls the electrolysis control unit so that the electrolysis control unit is operated in the second operation mode.
