PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type disposable diaper in which symbols and patterns given to an exterior body have good appearance, and good appearance of the diaper is achieved.SOLUTION: An exterior body 3 of an underpants type disposable diaper 1 comprises an outer layer sheet 31 and an inner layer sheet 32. The outer layer sheet 31 is formed of a stretchable sheet 4 formed by joining plural elastic filaments 43 arranged to extend in one direction in a substantially non-stretching state to stretchable nonwoven fabrics 41, 42 capable of stretching over whole length of them, and which can stretch in an extension direction of the elastic filaments 43. The outer layer sheet 31 has high basis weight parts 311 and low basis weight parts 312 extending in a stripe shape state in a direction substantially orthogonal to the extension direction of the elastic filaments 43, alternately in the extension direction.
