To provide a vehicle for movement having such a structure that a wheel gets over a step while being separated backwards with respect to an auxiliary wheel, in which the wheel is not unexpectedly separated backwards in a situation other than at the time of getting over the step, and on the other hand, the wheel can be easily separated backwards with respect to the auxiliary wheel at the time of getting over the step.SOLUTION: A walking vehicle 10 comprises a separation mechanism which separates a wheel backwards with respect to an auxiliary wheel, and a lock mechanism which locks the wheel and the auxiliary wheel in the state that both are caused to approach each other in a cross direction. Locking between the wheel and the auxiliary wheel by the lock mechanism is released, whereby the wheel can be separated backwards by the separation mechanism.
