An oral hygiene swab 10 for a patient comprises a stem 12 formed of a first relatively rigid material and a head portion 14 formed of a second relatively softer material that is over-moulded onto the stem. The second material of the head portion 14 is shaped to provide outwardly protruding cleaning formations 32, 36 that contact patient's mouth in use. The cleaning formations 32 may comprise a plurality of walls that are upstanding with respect to a longitudinal axis of the stem 12 and may extend circumferentially around said stem 12. The head portion 14 may also provide an additional set of cleaning formations 36 at the distal end of the cleaning head 14. This further set of cleaning formations 36 may comprise a further plurality of walls. The head 14 and stem 23 may have a hollow interior and the swab may be a suction swab. A method of manufacturing an oral hygiene swab is also provided where a stem of a first rigid material is moulded and a head of a second relatively softer material is overmoulded onto the stem, where the second material is shaped to provide cleaning formations.
