PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant-derived ultraviolet absorption substance capable of absorbing ultraviolet rays at a wavelength region in a wide range capable of achieving to the surface.SOLUTION: Provided is an ultraviolet absorption substance extracted from Racomitrium canescens. This ultraviolet absorption substance has the absorption maximum in the range of 260 to 280 nm and in the range of 340 to 360 nm. A solvent such as alcohol, for example methanol, may be used for its extraction. Further, heating treatment or drying treatment may be performed before the extraction.
