<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating long-stem plants comprising a planting technique enabling energy-saving/low cost cultivation of long-stem plants. <;P>;SOLUTION: The method for cultivating long-stem plants such as tomato, eggplant or cucumber comprises locally and directly heating whole or part of the center leader part (the stock base part) of the long-stem plant ranging from the stock base near the ground to a primary lateral branch knot or a tenth knot of the main stem with a heater to control heating of the stock base part. Direct and local heating of only the stock base part activates plant's vigour without heating the whole of the plant stock and results in increase of the plants. No heating of the whole of the plant stock enables drastic improvement in energy efficiency in heating treatment because heat loss due to useless heat leakage is extremely small. The heating treatment equipment is simplified because all a user must do is setting up the heater only at the stock base so as to perform plant cultivation with inexpensive equipment. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
