ABSTRACT Novel bio active compounds are prepared irom Aloin{10-glucopyranosyl-1,8 dihyclrox5-3(hydroxy methyi)-9,(10H)- anthracenone) from aloe vera, by functional group modification on the carbonyl carbon. Compounds have been prepared by wittig olifmation and also through condensation with glucosamine, which has been used as an arthritis drug. The bioactive character of the derived compounds are evaluated by DPPH radical scavenging and cytotoxic activity.
