The present invention relates to medical device and a method used to occlude blood vessels within a patient, and more specifically, to an occlusion device comprising an expandable mesh. An occlusion device for treating aneurysm comprises an inner embolic device including a proximal section and a distal section. The distal section has a first stiffness, and the proximal section has a second stiffness. Further, the device comprises an expandable mesh which is capable of being positioned at a collapsed position and an expanded position. The mesh is disposed on a portion of the proximal section of the inner embolic device, and is capable of being attached thereto.
