Provided is a disposable diaper which can avoid the waist panel irritating the wearers skin. A diaper (10) includes front and back waist panels (20, 30) and a crotch panel (40) which is attached to the surface not facing the skin. The front and back waist panels (20, 30) are provided with first and second inner sheets (21, 31), first and second outer sheets (22, 32), and first and second leak-proof sheets (23, 33) positioned between said inner and outer sheets. The first and second leak-proof sheets (23, 33) are bonded to the first inner sheet (21) and the second inner sheet (31) by means of an adhesive (62). Front and back waist elastic bodies (24, 34) are arranged between the first inner and outer sheets (21, 22) and between the second inner and outer sheets (31, 32), and a hot melt adhesive (61) is applied to substantially the entire circumference surface of said elastic bodies (24, 34). On the first and second outer sheets (22, 32), first and second cover sheets (81, 82) are attached which cover the front and back ends (40A, 40B) of the crotch panel (40).
