The invention provides a novel strain of cadmium-removing Lactobacillusplantarumbacterium, CCFM8610, which has a good tolerance to acidic environments.Lactobacillusplantarum CCFM8610 has a good tolerance to cadmium-containing medium and caneffectivelybind cadmium in vitro. Animal studies have shown that it can effectivelyreduce tissue cadmiumaccumulation and facilitate fecal cadmium excretion. Lactobacillus plantarumCCFM8610 has agreat potential to be used as an active ingredient in cadmium-removingpharmaceutical drugs andfermented foods.
