To provide a simple and inexpensive method for suppressing proliferation of algae, or inducing dysbolism to algae cells by using fine particles having polystyrene as the main skeleton.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for inhibiting or perishing proliferation of algae in a solution or on a solid surface by using particles which are fine particles having polystyrene as the main skeleton, and have affinity to components constituting the cell walls of algae, or protein and enzyme arranged on the cell walls. ALternatively, there is provided a method for inducing the start of production of useful products or an increase in a production quantity by giving stimulation and stress to algae and inducing dysbolism by exposing the particles having the characteristics.SELECTED DRAWING: None【課題】ポリスリレンを主骨格とする微細粒子を使用して、藻類の増殖抑制または藻類細胞に代謝異常を誘発する簡易で安価な方法を提供する。【解決手段】ポリスリレンを主骨格とする微細粒子であり、藻類の細胞壁を構成する成分あるいは細胞壁に配置されたタンパク質や酵素に親和性を持つ粒子を用い、水溶液中または固体表面上で藻類の増殖を阻害あるいは死滅させる方法、あるいはこのような特性を持つ粒子の暴露により、藻類に刺激やストレスを与えて代謝異常を誘発して、有用な産物の生産の開始あるいは生産量の増大を誘導する方法。【選択図】なし
