Lycopene from tomatoes is generally extracted through chemical methods involving toxic and carcinogenic reagents. Consumption of lycopene as an anti-aging supplement derived from such chemical methods is questionable. To make a safe and pure lycopene for human consumption, we propose the extraction of lycopene by using safe and edible oil materials at low temperatures (< 100 °C). The lycopene extracted by our method using coconut oil was found to be void of beta-camtenes (that are toxic to humans). This enhances the possibility of prolonged usage of pure lycopene extracted by our method as a potential anti-aging supplement of the future. The final product is packaged in an edible oil for stability and storage. The proposed extraction involves a low cost and simple method in comparison to existing methods. Edible oils other than coconut oil can also be used. However, a sesame oil based extraction �produced Lycopene mixed with Beta-Carotene.
