PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelatin capsule coating with reduced peculiar animal smell and excellent light shielding as a capsule base used in a wide variety of fields such as medicinal products, foods, and cosmetics, and to provide a capsule using the same.SOLUTION: The capsule coating reduces the animal smell peculiar to gelatin originating in animals such as cows, pigs, and fishes, that is a defect of the gelatin which is inexpensive and non-toxic, and expresses excellent mechanical strength, disintegration, and the like as the capsule base, by using in combination with a solvent extract of Eucommia ulmoides leaves further impairs the light shielding to the capsule coating and reduces masking of capsule contents and an optical change (discoloration, decomposition, etc.) of contents due to transmitted light.
