A catheter system for ablating a tissue portion of a body and visualising the ablation in real time, the system comprising a means for generating an optical imaging beam, a catheter including a catheter tip assembly comprising an array of first optical fibres for carrying the optical imaging beam and an ablating means, wherein the catheter tip assembly is adapted to direct said beam onto the tissue portion and capture a reflected portion of the optical imaging beam from the tissue portion. The system further includes a first switching means for switching the optical imaging beam between a plurality of the first optical fibres in the array and a means for processing the reflected portion of the optical imaging beam to account for variations in length between the first optical fibres.L'invention concerne un système de cathéter pour l'ablation d'une partie d'un tissu de l'organisme et la visualisation de l'ablation en temps réel, le système comprenant un moyen de génération d'un faisceau d'imagerie optique, un cathéter comprenant un ensemble pointe de cathéter comportant un réseau de premières fibres optiques pour transporter le faisceau d'imagerie optique et un moyen d'ablation, dans lequel l'ensemble pointe de cathéter est conçu pour diriger ledit faisceau sur la partie de tissu et pour capturer une partie réfléchie du faisceau d'imagerie optique en provenance de ladite partie de tissu. Le système comprend en outre un premier moyen de commutation pour commuter le faisceau d'imagerie optique entre une pluralité des premières fibres optiques du réseau et un moyen de traitement de la partie réfléchie du faisceau d'imagerie optique pour tenir compte des variations de longueur entre les premières fibres optiques.
