An endoscope main body (10a) includes an insertion section (12), operating sections (20 22), wires (72, 74 76), branch member (14). The insertion section includes an arm section (32, 34) having at least one bending portion (38, 40), a hard portion (42) which is provided in a proximal end of the arm section and in which a distal end of an observation optical system (200) is disposed, and another bending portion (44) provided separately from the bending portion of the arm section. The branch member is provided in the proximal end of the insertion section, so that the operating sections are branched from each other and so that the wire connected to the operating section and the other wire connected to the other operating section are branched from each other. The branch member has an opening (130) as an inlet which guides the distal end of the observation optical system to the hard portion.
