A surgical instrument with multiple degrees of freedom, said instrument comprising: at least a head portion comprising at least a distal tool head at least a body portion, said body portion being spaced apart from said head portion, said spaced apart region providing the ability to provide for multiple degrees of freedom of said at least a head portion and at least a central system configured to connect said at least a head portion to said at least a body portion and further configured to achieve maneuverability and locking ability to said at least a head portion in multiple degrees of freedom.
