An ocular implantation device comprising a housing having a longitudinal axis,a needle configured toreceive an ocular implant, and a plunger and a rod operatively coupledtogether. The plunger and therod are disposed in the housing and are collectively, translationally moveablealong the longitudinalaxis of housing, The rod is configured to be receivable within at least aportion of the needle to enablethe rod to move an implant therethrough. An actuator is operatively engagedwith the plunger such thatmovement of the actuator in a direction aligned with the longitudinal axis ofthe housing results intranslational movement of the plunger and the rod along the longitudinal axisof the housing in order todeliver the implant through the needle to a target site, A window disposed inthe housing permits visualdetermination of the status of the ocular implant. An alternative embodimentof the device uses aretractable needle to deliver the ocular implant.
