Die Erfindung betrifft beschichtete Metallpigmente, wobei die Metallpigmente einen Metallkern und eine den Metallkern umhüllende Beschichtung umfassen, wobei der Metallkern zu mindestens 60 Gew.-% aus mindestens einem ferromagnetischen Metall besteht, die den Metallkern umhüllende Beschichtung mindestens eine umhüllende Metalloxidschicht und mindestens eine umhüllende chemisch nichtreaktive Kunststoffschicht aufweist, wobei der Gehalt der mindestens einen Metalloxidschicht mindestens 9 Gew.-% und der Gehalt der mindestens einen Kunststoffschicht mindestens 0,4 Gew.-%, jeweils bezogen auf das Gewicht des unbeschichteten Metallpigments, beträgt, wobei die mindestens eine den Metallkern umhüllende Metalloxidschicht kein Oxidationsprodukt des Metallkerns darstellt.
