PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neuroprotective agent that can effectively protect intraocular cells including an optic nerve and is effective as a composition for staining an eye membrane when removing the eye membrane. [Means for Solving the Problems] The above-mentioned problems include brilliant blue G, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable solvate thereof, and triamcinolone acetonide, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a salt thereof. It is solved by a neuroprotective agent containing a pharmaceutically acceptable solvate as an active ingredient. This neuroprotective agent has an eye membrane staining action derived from BBG and exhibits a very high neuroprotective action due to a synergistic effect of brilliant blue G and triamcinolone acetonide.
