There is provided the use of a decolorizing composition for removing colored materials from aqueous fluids (e.g., colored pigments, blood containing fluids, etc.). The decolorizing composition contains one or more inorganic salts. In one embodiment, for example, the composition contains a mixture of sodium sulfate (Na 2 SO 4 ) and monopotassium phosphate (KH 2 PO 4 ).
