The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a prosthetic heart valve assembly, comprising:forming a frame having metallic intersecting bars, the frame having upper and lower extremities and being collapsible to a compressed external diameter suitable for insertion into an aortic annulus using a catheterization technique, the frame being adapted to be expandable to an expanded position to embed the frame into the aortic annulus and resist the recoil force of the aortic annulusexpanding the framesuturing a collapsible valvular structure to the frame between the upper and lower extremities while the frame is in an expanded state, the valvular structure formed of pericardial tissue and adapted for permitting blood flow in one direction andsuturing an internal cover to the lower extremity of the frame below the valvular structure and along an internal surface of the frame for preventing regurgitation of blood through a wall of the frame.
