PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute photographing control corresponding to a pupil diameter by objectively determining whether or not an eye to be examined has reached a photographable pupil diameter in an ophthalmological photographing apparatus such as a non-mydriasis fundus camera.
SOLUTION: The fundus photographing apparatus includes: an illumination system (11-18) for illuminating the fundus of the eye to be examined an photographing optical system (21-27, 32) for photographing the fundus of the eye to be examined an observation system (29, 50, 51) capable of observing the fundus image of the eye to be examined together with an index image and a focusing index projection system (42, 43, 44...) for projecting a focusing index (73) to the fundus of the eye to be examined in order to confirm a focusing state by a focusing mechanism for focusing the photographing optical system matched with the diopter of the eye to be examined. The state of the pupil diameter of the eye to be examined is detected using the image of the focusing index for which the state of being projected on the fundus is changed by the pupil diameter of the eye E to be examined, which is obtained through the observation system.
