Disclosed is the use of a compound of nicotine for the manufacture of a medicament for intensifying a secretion of alpha-MSH in humans for the treatment in humans of: proliferative retinopathies where an eye fibroblasts initial stages of retrolental fibroplasias proliferative diabetic retinopathies post traumatic proliferative retinopathies proliferative retinopathies caused by hypoxia infectious conditions or infectious syndromes to one or more of a liver, kidney, lung and blood vessels degenerative osteoarthrosis eclampsyia Parkinson or Alzheimer diseases rejection of transplanted tissues ischemia to a kidney, lung or intestines lipopolysaccharides deterioration to a liver or blood vessels liver cirrhosis cartilage protection depression with obesity pain relief in late term pregnancy, in the absence diabetes, hypertension or neuropathy antecedents neonatal sepsis or inflammatory diseases, either chronic or acute, wherein the compound of nicotine is used to intensify a secretion of alpha-MSH.
