Methods for treating and/or limiting development of diabetes in a subject with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by inhibiting IgG-mediated activation of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) in cells of the subject, by one or more of removing IgG from blood of the subject, blocking IgG from activating VGCCs in the subject； or blocking VGCCs in the subject are described, as are methods for identifying ALS patients at risk of developing diabetes.L'invention concerne des méthodes pour traiter le diabète et/ou limiter son développement chez les patients atteints de sclérose latérale amyotrophique (SLA) en inhibant au niveau des cellules du patient l'activation médiée par l'IgG des canaux calciques dépendants du potentiel (VGCCs, pour "voltage-gated calcium channels"), par l'intermédiaire d'un ou de plusieurs des mécanismes suivants : éliminer l'IgG du sang du patient, empêcher l'IgG d'activer les VGCCs chez le patient, ou bloquer les VGCCs chez le patient.
