#$%^&*AU2017200189A120170223.pdf#####ABSTRACT The present invention provides methods and apparatus to precisely and accurately seat an intraocular lens within the capsule of an eye of a patient by using a short pulse laser to create a capsular incision whose size and shape complement that of the intraocular lens itself. This can be accomplished by adding asymmetrical features to the incision and lens, or portions thereof. In some embodiments, the intraocular lens for insertion into a patients eye includes a lens portion shaped for focusing light passing therethrough, and at least two haptics extending from the lens portion for supplying a spring force to the lens portion. The lens portion includes a peripheral edge that forms a registration feature. In some embodiments, the intraocular lens for insertion into a patients eye includes a lens portion shaped for focusing light passing therethrough, at least two haptics extending from the lens portion for supplying a spring force to the lens portion, and a post separated from, and connected to the lens portion by, at least one strut member.
