Taxanes are widely used in the treatment of breast cancer, although there are currently no validated predictive markers for taxane responsiveness. While the mechanism by which taxanes induce mitotic arrest is well documented, the signaling pathway that links mitotic arrest to cell death, is ill-defined. As described herein, the BH3- only protein Bad and Bik are prognostic indicators for overall survival after adjuvant taxane chemotherapy and a predictive marker for taxane responsiveness.Bien quil nexiste actuellement aucun marqueur prédictif de la réponse au taxane, les taxanes sont largement utilisés dans le traitement du cancer du sein. Alors que le mécanisme par lequel les taxanes induisent un arrêt de la mitose est bien documenté, la voie de signalisation liant larrêt de la mitose à lapoptose nest pas réellement définie. Tel que ceci est décrit dans le présent document, les protéines Bad et Bik ne possédant quun domaine BH3 sont des indicateurs de pronostic pour la survie globale après une chimiothérapie adjuvante au taxane et un marqueur prédictif de la réponse au taxane.
