A composition of matter comprising an oil adduct synthesized by an oil and anaddition material, wherein the oilincludes at least one member chosen from an ethoxylated oil, a hydrogenatedoil, and an ethoxylated and hydrogenated oil； whereinthe average degree of ethoxylation in the ethoxylated (optionallyhydrogenated) oil is less than about 10 based on moles of ethyleneoxide per mole of oil； wherein the hydrogenated (optionally ethoxylated) oilhas an iodine value of less than about 75； wherein the oilis capable of undergoing reaction with the addition material through ahydroxyl group of the oil； and wherein the addition materialincludes at least one member chosen from carboxylic acid anhydrides, maleicanhydride, dicarboxylic acids, fumaric acid, maleicacid, succinic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, lactic acid,glycolic acid, lactobionic acid, carnitine, salicylic acid, and(meth)acrylic acid.
